A Buyers Guide & Review to the Dewalt Flexvolt Models

The well known power tool company Dewalt from the United States of America introduced their innovative Flexvolt battery technology back 4 years ago in 2016.

When the battery was first brought to the market it brought about a great deal of change within the industry, with many other power tool manufacturers, such as Makita, Ryobi, and Bosch, introducing their own copy cat version of the then unique battery system.

However, the Dewalt version has always been the original and continues to be the best version of this type of technology. In order to fully appreciate what the company has done for the power tool industry, you must first understand how the battery system works.

A battery that has the Flexvolt technology incorporated in it can be used on any Dewalt  power tool that is compatible with the battery system.

The vast majority of the drills, saws, grinders, sanders, polishers, routers, nailers, and other power tools that the company produces run off of either a 20 volt, 60 volt, or 120 volt battery.

A Flexvolt battery is able to power each and every one of these power tools regardless of the voltage that they require to operate. This is thanks to the unique properties of the cells that are inside of the battery itself.

Being able to use just one battery for all of your Dewalt power tools, regardless of what voltage they run off is not only super convenient but will also save you money in the long run as you do not need to purchase a battery for each and every one that you own.

What is also good is that as well as charging very fast, these batteries will also run for a long time, regardless of what power they are putting out and for what job they are being used for at the time. However, there have been reports by some users that the batteries do not last long before they die altogether and need replacing with new ones.

This may be true if they are not stored or looked after correctly. But if you do take the proper care with them, then the Flexvolt battery should last for a long time and may even last longer than a conventional lithium ion battery.

Some of our favorite power tools that are compatible with these batteries include the Dewalt DCS575T2 Flexvolt Circular Saw, the Dewalt DCD996 20V MAX* 1/2” Hammer Drill, the Dewalt DCF887 20V MAX* 1/4″ Impact Driver, and the Dewalt DCG414T2 FLEXVOLT Grinder. Of course there are many more out there that are compatible with these batteries.

If you want to find out more about Flexvolt batteries and the power tools that are compatible with them, then you can read more here. Reading a detailed review such as this will provide you with all of the information that you need in order to be able to decide whether or not you would want to purchase these batteries for your own power tool(s).

As you can see from our review, we are very much in favour of using Flexvolt batteries as they come with so many benefits and are way superior to the alternative.
